Meet Your Photographer

hi!

My name is Lindsay McGowan, and I live in North Liberty, IA, with my husband and three boys. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, I moved to Iowa City in 1999 to attend The University of Iowa—and I never left!

With degrees in psychology and business, photography wasn’t always in my plans. But my love for creativity and storytelling led me to pick up a camera, and in 2011—just six months after welcoming my twin boys—I turned that passion into a business. With three kids under three, a simple DSLR, and a lot of coffee, I jumped in with both feet and never looked back.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless moments, building lasting relationships, and growing alongside the families I photograph. What I love most about my work is the laughter, the stories, the connections—and, of course, capturing the best hugs ever. Your life, your love, your moments—preserved beautifully and authentically.

My portfolio is a blend of classic portraiture and timeless lifestyle photography, covering birth stories, newborns, children, families, high school seniors, commercial, and editorial work, with a few weddings to keep life interesting. Each gallery is thoughtfully curated, offering a mix of posed portraits and genuine, heartfelt moments.

I can’t wait to tell your story!
